Color or Black & White? How do I choose? Sara Smile Photography Springboro Ohio Photographer

When it comes to choosing between editing a photo in color or black and white…how do I choose?  Well, a lot of it has to do with the shadows and “mood” of the photo.  If the light was dramatic and bold, I am likely to edit it in black and white to show off the drama of the lighting.

Sometimes, I choose to edit a photo in both color AND black & white to let you decide which you prefer!  Some of my clients have framed galleries in their homes and need black & white photos to compliment the rest of the gallery.

Black and white photos can be more “timeless” than color photos.  You notice the clothing and other possible distractions less when the the photo is black and white.  That said…there are times when the colors of the photo are what makes it spectacular!

If you ever want to see one of your photos in color and black and white, let me know and I would be glad to accommodate your request!  If I think that the particular photo won’t look as nice in black/white vs color, I’ll tell you and explain why.

Thank you for trusting me to preserve your most precious memories!

Extended Family Sessions- Sara Smile Photography Springboro Ohio

“Cousins are those childhood playmates who grow up to be forever friends” -author unknown

Now is the time to schedule a session with your extended family!  It’s fun to have photos of the cousins…all together.  Nothing makes Grandma more happy!  You take photos of your own kids together…but what about a session with all of their cousins!  You can also do some break-out groups so that you can get plenty of photos to make a nice wall collage for Grandma!

Here are some examples of some photos that I have taken of cousins.  Enjoy!

Your baby’s first year in photographs- Sara Smile Photography Springboro Ohio Photographer

How will you remember your baby?  Was your baby serious?  Did she smile all the time?  Did he hold his hands a certain way…that only you could recognize?  THESE are just some of the things you will want to remember about your baby’s first year!  The best way to capture these memories is by scheduling “milestone” sessions!

Why are “milestone” sessions important?

First, what are “milestone” sessions?  “Milestone” sessions are sessions that will capture important milestones during your baby’s first year.  Most commonly done at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months.

These sessions are intended to capture your baby while he or she is growing and changing so quickly.  These sessions are usually done as a mini session because your baby will usually only want to “model” for us for a short period of time.  The world is there to explore so doing anything for more than 20 minutes isn’t always fun for a baby!  🙂

I LOVE these sessions because they produce photos that you will cherish forever.  These are photos that you will display at your child’s high school graduation and even his/her wedding!  🙂  Call me to schedule a “milestone” session…don’t let these precious memories get away!

Gorgeous Maternity

I might be a little biased…but I think she is the most gorgeous mama to be!  I was so excited to take my sister’s maternity photos…and of course I am even more excited to meet my nephew in just a few short weeks (maybe sooner if he decides to make his grand entrance early!).   I will be sure to share his newborn photographs…I won’t be able to resist!

“For Sale”

I am so lucky to have become friends with several talented photographers from all over the world!  We decided to challenge ourselves and each select a poem from the Shel Silverstein’s book “Where the Sidewalk Ends”.  I immediately knew which poem I wanted to use:  For Sale!  My kids LOVE reading the poems from this book…but were especially tickled with the poem For Sale.  My daughter laughed and laughed about it.  My husband changed the words to “Brother For Sale”…and my son’s laughing came to a halt.  He was very upset and didn’t like it AT ALL!  So, we changed it back to “Sister” and it was all smiles again!  Gotta love kids!

Here are the photos that we took…the kids tried their hardest to execute my vision…not sure we totally hit the mark but we had fun doing it!
