What is your passion? Preserve your passion with a photograph! Sara Smile Photography Springboro Ohio

Do you have a passion?  Why not use your session to capture your passion?  I love it when my clients want to choose a “theme” or passion of theirs to integrate into their session.  Tell me about what you love to do and then I can choose a location and help you bring your passion to life in your photos.  Do you love horses?  Let’s take photos of you and your horse!

Does your son love to play with matchbox cars?  Bring them to your session so we can use them!

Do you play a musical instrument?  Bring it to your session and I will find a way to incorporate it into your photos!

Childhood…how to capture your child during your session. Sara Smile Photography Springboro Ohio

One of my goals is to have FUN during your session.  And while having fun, I want to make sure to capture the details and moments that you will want to remember.  Like…how your son using to run around in the grass without a care in the world!

I try to position you in a beautiful location with great light and then let you and your family work your magic!  I want your family to feel relaxed and comfortable.  I want your photographs to allow you to re-live moments in time.

Try and go into your session without a certain idea of how/what your child will act/smile during the session.  I always tell parents that if your child isn’t a “smiley” child, it’s unlikely that he/she will sit and smile for the camera.  And honestly, that wouldn’t be the way you would want to remember your child.  You *know* your child’s personality so if he/she tends to be more shy and introverted, allow me to capture that part of his/her personality!

Location Location Location! Sara Smile Photography Springboro Ohio

How do I choose a location?  Location and the time of your portrait session (literally, 30 minutes makes a huge difference in the quality of light) are very important to making your session a success!

The best time of day is either 1-2 hours after sunrise or 1-2 hours before sunset.  I will choose a location that will maximize the gorgeous light from the sun.  If you have a location in mind, let me know so I can go scout that location ahead of time in order to schedule your session when the light is best.

All of these photos of this very photogenic High School Senior were taken at the same location (so much variety) and the session started about 1 hour after sunrise.  My clients hire me because they know that I will deliver images that will be beautifully lit and nicely composed!  I normally use several camera lenses to create different looks and variety during your session!

Garage light…what?!? Sara Smile Photography Springboro Ohio

DSC_7301-2

I have a studio indoors that has studio lights and several backgrounds to use.  But…in the summer and when it’s warm, I will sometimes take my backgrounds out to the garage.  Say what?  The garage???!!!!  Yes…that’s right!  The garage!  When I place the background at just the right spot in the garage, the light coming through the garage door is beautiful!  I loved this sibling session…that was taken in the summer in the garage!  Don’t be afraid if I come to you with a crazy idea like taking photos in the garage…trust me!  I will make sure your photographs turn out amazing!

I dare you not to smile! Sara Smile Photography Centerville Ohio Photographer

I LOVE this photo…and I mean L-O-V-E it.  I knew the instant that I pushed the shutter that this photo might be my favorite from the session.

When photographing children, it’s important to make them feel comfortable.  I can not confirm or deny if this sweetie’s mother and I *might* have been singing, dancing…or some other crazy thing to get her to smile like this!   It’s not uncommon for me to finish a session and feel like I’ve gotten a full workout…and most parents might feel like that too!  It’s all worth it though…to get a photo like this!  🙂

As a mother, it’s easy to make an excuse to hide behind the camera.  Let’s face it, most moms are *taking* the photos…not getting in them.  It’s important to make time to get in photos with your children.  Let me help you pick the perfect wardrobe to flatter you…get your hair done or your makeup done…and then come get your photo taken with your children.  You won’t regret it!
