Location Location Location! Sara Smile Photography Springboro Ohio

How do I choose a location?  Location and the time of your portrait session (literally, 30 minutes makes a huge difference in the quality of light) are very important to making your session a success!

The best time of day is either 1-2 hours after sunrise or 1-2 hours before sunset.  I will choose a location that will maximize the gorgeous light from the sun.  If you have a location in mind, let me know so I can go scout that location ahead of time in order to schedule your session when the light is best.

All of these photos of this very photogenic High School Senior were taken at the same location (so much variety) and the session started about 1 hour after sunrise.  My clients hire me because they know that I will deliver images that will be beautifully lit and nicely composed!  I normally use several camera lenses to create different looks and variety during your session!

I love black and white photos.  I love the depth.  I love that they are timeless.  I love that they draw you in without much distraction.  I love the emotion that black and white photographs convey.  I generally include several black and white photographs in every gallery.  It’s very easy to create great wall collages with black and white photographs.  Be sure to PRINT your photographs and display them in your house!  Don’t leave them on a cd or on your hard drive!  Print Print Print!

Here are some of examples of black and white photographs from sessions I have taken.

High School Senior Boys. Sara Smile Photography South Dayton Ohio

High School Seniors are fun to photograph!  They all have a different idea of styling and how long they intend the session to take.  Some like to have several outfit changes and take a few hours…others prefer a mini session!  I can work with you and your high school senior to create a session that meets your needs!  We can choose a location (or multiple locations) that coordinate with your vision.  I can also take a formal yearbook photo in my studio.

Here are some examples of High School Senior boy photos I have taken!

Color or Black & White? How do I choose? Sara Smile Photography Springboro Ohio Photographer

When it comes to choosing between editing a photo in color or black and white…how do I choose?  Well, a lot of it has to do with the shadows and “mood” of the photo.  If the light was dramatic and bold, I am likely to edit it in black and white to show off the drama of the lighting.

Sometimes, I choose to edit a photo in both color AND black & white to let you decide which you prefer!  Some of my clients have framed galleries in their homes and need black & white photos to compliment the rest of the gallery.

Black and white photos can be more “timeless” than color photos.  You notice the clothing and other possible distractions less when the the photo is black and white.  That said…there are times when the colors of the photo are what makes it spectacular!

If you ever want to see one of your photos in color and black and white, let me know and I would be glad to accommodate your request!  If I think that the particular photo won’t look as nice in black/white vs color, I’ll tell you and explain why.

Thank you for trusting me to preserve your most precious memories!
